two days of parties and fun!

Momma and Daddy had all my friends

from the neighborhood over for pizza and cake

and lots of fun playing on Saturday.

The doctor said Mommy and Daddy needed

to take me to the emergency room on Sunday

January 2, 2011 and there the doctors

decided I had Kawasaki Disease.

I think a picture says it all ... you can see

that I felt downright terrible!

Woe was me ...

I don't know why my hand is taped to

this board and I wanna go home!!!

So did Daddy and Mommy but I got admitted.

This was me by Monday night after I

got some good medicine and lots of TLC ...

on the road to recovery and I am

looking forward to being back home or at

MiMi's and with my little brother Sam.

Sam sent me a little picture greeting to make me smile ...

And I did! Bet you did too!

brunch, a really fun show, I got to see all my

Today Momma took Sam and I to Weber Farm

where we have gone to play with tractors,

hayrides, goats, punkins and a

Today is also Halloween and my special "treat"

was waiting for me at the farm.

And it was their first time to meet my little brother Sam!

We had lunch at MiMi's and I also had more time

to play and wear them out before naptime!

Yesterday and today have been a loud and noisy

blast at MiMi's! Just my kind of fun!

MiMi's neighbors are getting a new driveway

and the old cement one had to go ...

so all day we had the jackhammers as

background "music" to our day. And let me tell you ...

I've never slept better! Forget the ocean waves or

bird songs, I sleep best to a jackhammer! Who knew?

Today they brought my favorite thing to use ...

a diggy!!!!

My Dadda found the perfect spot to take me

where we can park and watch the construction site

for a new school. There are diggies and all sorts

of trucks and equipment. When MiMi found out about

this, she decided to add it to our daily routine so

I was thinking that was just great!

Now this ... a diggy right next door to MiMi's!

I've offered to help out and you can see

I look pretty much ready to go, don't I?

about this exciting big day that was coming.

My new baby brother was going to come to live

MiMi and Auntie Kerrian took me to the hospital

and we got to visit with Momma, Dada and Sam.

When it was time to say goodbye, I gave kisses

to everyone, but especially little Sam!

I can't wait to see him grow and soon he

will be able to run around and play all day with me!

Summer has been so much fun with long, long days

to play outside and all kinds of water play and

bike rides and wagon rides and walks.

But isn't it fun now to see all the leaves

falling down so we can crunch them

markets? And pretty soon we'll be going

for hayrides and drinking yummy apple cider!

It has been oh, so long since MiMi has had the freedom during a day or the energy left at the end of a day, to sit down and share with you. I promise we'll try to do this a bit more often. As you can see, my walking skills have improved quite a bit ... I can be quite speedy and go all about ... with MiMi in tow usually saying "Simon, no not there, come this way" and "look out for cars"! I have my favorite routine walking around MiMi's street ... there's the walk up to check out the traffic on Bellona, there's the rock wall, the neighbor's brick sidewalk, sticks to pick up, ants to watch, neighbors to say "Hi" to, birds and squirrels to babble at ... And guess what? There's a pig in someone's driveway!

MiMi's neighborhood has so much that we can do

just a short walk away. When the weather is warm and we find the time with Mommy, one of our favorite things is lunch at the old-fashioned counter at Charlesmeade Pharmacy!

Then it's just a short walk across to the Tot Lot in the neighborhood nearby. Who doesn't love to feel the warm breeze in their hair while swinging!

There are horses, scooters, bikes, and cars to ride. Everyone who lives nearby just brings their toys here to share ... now isn't that the best!

Here I am trying to help out by driving the Citizens Patrol car around to keep this place safe for one and all! You know you can come over anytime you want to MiMi's and we'll take you to play too!

MiMi and I have not been able to share much of our days with you lately. MiMi's software was giving her fits ... after five hours with four different "helpers", she is finally back up and running!

We are doing well and enjoying the breaks we're getting with the weather turning warmer. Along with those changes, this new form of transportation that I've moved on to is feeling more like the way to go. Okay ... now MiMi's getting red in the face. It seems that Blogger continues to give her an "error" message when she's been attempting to share her video. We'd better give her a few hours to simmer down before she can handle another "support" session. Stay tuned!

It was so cold for so long this winter, MiMi had to keep her front door closed ... but look where I like to spend time now ... there's a whole world to watch outside. Here I am again ... I think I am about 3 months old. MiMi used to put me in here for a nap with the bassinet sitting on top of her dining room table. I think I made a great centerpiece!

And finally, here I am at thirteen months old! MiMi had to pull this up from storage in her basement. A guy needs to stretch out, so this just won't do anymore. But MiMi sure is thankful that her good friend, Erin, let us borrow this to help give me a good start!

MiMi and my Grandpa Charlie moved to Naw'leans in 1974 with Aunties Kerrian & Lauren when they were little girls, and then in 1978 my Uncle Charley was born! My Great-Aunt Patty lives there now so MiMi still gets to go back to visit the city she loves. One day I think I'll go there too and eat me some crawfish gumbo, some cochon du lait, a snowball and best of all ... a King Cake! "Hey, throw me something, Mister!" See, I'm ready! Mardi Gras here I come!

Mommy and I thought we might have the day together but the winter weather predicted did not arrive so here we are arriving at MiMi's. They sang to me and hmmm, that doesn't usually happen. What's up with today? It's my birthday!!! I'm number one!

MiMi tried adding a candle to my cereal and fruit but I had other plans.

Some people think that now I'm a big boy but I still like to be babied and MiMi says so does she!

Well, here in blogger-world, all is not well. There seems to be a technical problem within the system that has made all videos posted through blogger go black. The "Help" thread was interesting to read and made me feel a little better ... just to see that this is a worldwide problem not some crazy misstep that I made. I had a cute video of Simon that I've been trying to get posted for two days now, but no luck ... and then panic when I saw that all the previous videos wouldn't play. A Blogger employee has posted that they are aware of the glitch and working on a fix ... so stay tuned! Even Simon is annoyed ... he's been looking at my computer screen ... growling ... looking at me puzzled and wondering why I won't play it for him!

MiMi had been talking with Mommy for many weeks about creating a new play area for me. Well, while I was sleeping yesterday, look what she created! "Who needs a dining room?" says MiMi ... "people will just expect you to cook!"

Oma came with her friend, Susan, to see for herself. They had fun watching me check it all out. And Mrs. Green brought me a gift and, boy oh boy, it's one of my favorite things! Music! My very own radio!

Oma was on hand to lend her lap and help me get an afternoon feeding in! Yum ... we like these special times together!

See this? I have my very own chair to sit in here in my very own library! Wow, it wasn't a dream! And it's filled with the things dreams are made of ... mostly, love!

Simon Says "I'm Not Lost But I Do Spend Everyday Now Out Exploring"

I know it has been weeks since I've filed a blog for you all. I apologize but let me tell you I've been busy, busy, busy ... and MiMi would like you to know that this means that she has been busier, busier, and busier. Getting my mobility has opened up a whole world here at MiMi's. I think this is some kind of a face mask perhaps to keep me from breathing in any burning smells that MiMi makes in this particular room on occasion. Here I've found I'm also in hardhat territory ... better safe than sorry.

I found some papers I just might need ... could it be a treasure map? Hmmm, this drawer doesn't have what I call good noise-makers at all. Well then, I'm off. So many cabinets and so many drawers and there are rooms I haven't even gotten to yet! And when I finally have pushed myself to the limit, this is where you'll find me and MiMi. Even all the great explorers need their sleep ... and so do their support teams!

MiMi and I were back together again today after a long break over Christmas. I had Mommy and Daddy at home with me for five whole days! Yippee! But then, sometimes a guy just needs some guy-time, so thank goodness Mr. Chinor was there and we were able to hang out for a little while too!

Simon Says "I Know Where Christmas Trees Come From ... My Daddy!"

Our weekend was sunny at least, but old man winter is just around the corner and you could feel the wind blowing him our way. Every year since my Daddy was a teenager he has worked with a friend on his Christmas tree lot selling trees. It's a tradition that he really likes and so once again this year, as soon as Thanksgiving is over he works on weekends ... big guy stuff, like lifting, hauling, sawing, digging holes, and finding the patience to show "just one more" tree to people who just have to have the perfect tree for their home. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be working along side of him and I could help you find your perfect tree! So Mommy and I will spend our Saturdays and Sundays together and hang out with Aunt Kerrian or MiMi or Oma & PopPop. And one of these days we'll go to the lot and Daddy will help us pick just the right tree to be my first Christmas tree ever! MiMi tells me she once had a tree that was picked out with care, was decorated with care and she loved to sit and turn all the house lights off so she could see only her special tree ... the perfect tree. Then guess what happened? The cat thought it might be fun to climb the tree and it crashed to the ground. Poor MiMi. Well, the cat is no longer around ... hmmm, I guess I'd better be careful around her tree!

You know we just got back last night from our Kerrigan Family Reunion in Kissimmee, FL. My MiMi's family is BIG, and getting bigger! They started the photos with me in small groups so it wasn't too overwhelming right away. Here I am on the right with Asher and Megan Kerrigan. Asher is about three weeks younger than I am and lives in Collierville, Tennessee with his parents, Elyssa and Kyle Kerrigan. Megan was born in early April and lives in Spokane, Washington with her parents Lela and Ian Kerrigan. Asher and I were cracking up at all the parents trying to get us to pose and smile ... Megan on the otherhand doesn't seem at all amused. Here I am with all the great grandchildren. Let me introduce us: Back Row: L to R - Me, Caleb, Eli, James, Michael, William holding Addie, Quinn, Dane, Cooper, Brody; Front Row: Asher, Megan, Ella (and we're missing Ella's brother, Caden who is two years old but he was napping). Boy, I'm not used to all these people who are my size and it is amazing! It was a huge challenge to find a time that we were all awake and this was as close as it was going to get!

We all had so much fun and there are hundreds of pictures to be shared, but MiMi will wait until she gets one of the portraits with all 58 of us together and then you can play "Where's Simon?"

I am one lucky little guy to have all of my grandparents close by so that we can have these kinds of days! MiMi says we should all say thanks today to all of the people in our families who served in the military because today is called Veterans Day. I don't know about you, but my family has many many to remember and thank!

You see I've got the plank position mastered. I can do the downward facing dog. Heck, I even throw in a little Pilates moves. But the idea I have in my mind when I work to getting up on all fours is to move along - forward - usually in pursuit of a toy just out of my reach. Somehow, I haven't found forward gear and I end up in a yoga session. Some help here, please. Maybe when I get with all of the cousins next week in Florida they'll show me the moves.

Well, except that I'm not really sure what candy is, but MiMi sure looks excited about it! My Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Kerrigan (that's MiMi's Mommy and Daddy) sent this outfit for me ... that was so nice! Don't I look like a great Halloween Jack-o-lantern? I've seen lots of pumpkins - on our visit to the farm, out on the porches when we are taking our walks - and I noticed that they are usually big and round ... so I'm working on filling this out a little more. This is the week we all watch the weather forecast and hope that it stays dry and not too cold for our night of trick-or-treating. It's a little iffy around here ... how about in your neighborhood? Well, hallelujah, MiMi is back in business and able to share photos with you again. Over there on the right is the picture she gave you the link to see. Daddy is considering a new camera and has this one to try out for a few days. So far, I'd say I'm looking pretty good! Actually he and Mommy caught me with some laugh out loud funny expressions and MiMi will probably share a few more of those later. Well, this week leads up to the fun of Halloween and my Auntie Kerrian got me this cool shirt you see below to get us all in the spirit. My Great-Grandma and Grandpa Kerrigan sent me a holiday shirt too and MiMi says you'll see that one tomorrow. Then stay tuned ... by Friday you'll see me in my costume all ready for Halloween! Don't be scared, I won't bite ... okay, that's your hint! My MiMi won't have me on Friday or Monday. I get to spend those two days in a very special way ... with my Dad! MiMi's sister, my Great-Aunt Patty, fell down about 8 wks ago and broke her foot/ankle in three places. She is still in a big cast & since Great-Uncle Wayne is away on a business trip, MiMi is going to help her out and give her some company. Even they have some BIG plans for Halloween. Great-Aunt Patty's neighborhood in New Orleans goes all out and she's heard it's like a big street party ... so with Patty in the electric scooter, they'll go off and have some fun!

Simon Says "Nine Months On The Outside - My Stats!"

Sorry I'm late ... I'm just getting here to MiMi's.

Today is my nine month mark and I had my routine check-up with Dr. Duffy. Here are the important stats ... I am now 27 1/2 inches tall and 20.4 lbs. - that's 50% weight and 25% height. And Dr. Duffy could see my two top teeth ready to pop! I got my flu shot, and one other for good measure, and Dr. Duffy gave the word that Mommy can start feeding me more varieties of food ... yum! As you can see from my picture, we're being treated to another warm day ... high might be above 75 and the sun is trying hard to push through some clouds. It'll be a nice long walk again today, right MiMi?!

We had a fine weekend, but laid low ... the weather wasn't very inviting to run around town and we stayed warm and cozy at home for most of the weekend. Friday was my Uncle Charley's birthday and Oma & PopPop stayed with me so Mommy and Daddy could go to dinner to help him celebrate his day. My Auntie Kerrian is in NYC and MiMi has Molly, so today I get to spend time with a doggie ... MiMi trys to keep Molly at a safe distance ... from my little fingers that love to grab and pull!

MiMi and I were just invited to go down to the harbor tomorrow with Miss Deborah for a very exciting event. Remember I've told you about my Dad learning boat building from a very talented and well known boat builder, Bruce? They have just finished the second replica of a life boat for the USS Constellation. Tomorrow morning these two boats will be launched for the very first time into the waters of the Inner Harbor! For a boat builder I guess that's like seeing your baby go off and leave home! I am so proud and won't it be great to watch? I'll tell you all about it next week.

We had the best time on Saturday. We went to meet up with one of Mommy and Daddy's best friends, Libby ... she lives in Alexandria ... that's near DC and we took off and spent the day at the National Zoo! It was a gorgeous fall day and we had a blast! MiMi doesn't have the picture, but Libby bought me the best hat! It's a Panda hat! Hey, wait, MiMi will go "borrow" it from FB. Don't you just imagine you're looking at a little baby Panda? The little tiger got to come home with me too. Lucky me, right?! MiMi is almost over the crummy cold, I'm still a little stuffy, we shared it with Daddy, and now Mommy is beginning to think she's joining us all! Well, next weekend is a full social calendar for Mommy and Daddy ... two of their best friends, Pat and Beth, are getting married and my Mommy and Daddy are part of the wedding! There's no time for the sickbed, so Mommy hopes to rebound quick. Oma, PopPop and MiMi will get lots of extra time with me!

My Oma and I just can't keep our hands off each other ... it's a way to explore and get to know one another ... and she's really more gentle than I am because sometimes I just don't know my own strong grasp or that hair can come out in clumps! But it's all about loving every little moment together! When she has us all over for dinner she lets me sit right up on top of her dining room table, right next to her. One day when I am big and grown-up we'll laugh about that and try to imagine it so it's a good thing my MiMi took a picture to help us look back and see how we only had eyes for each other at that moment. You can see it too, can't you ... I love my Oma.

I am just beginning to get steady on these legs of mine and the world looks a bit different rom way up here! [Please note that my temp typist (MiMi) let me get a little too close to her computer the other day and in my excitement, I grabbed the keyboard and came away with the letter "F" and knocked the letter "G" off kilter too ... so by way o explanation, you may see words where MiMi has missed going back and banging hard enough to get the "F" or the "G" to appear - whoops, sorry MiMi]. I know I told you about the washout on Friday, well it continued all day Saturday too ... soggy! But our Sunday was beautiful & sunny and Daddy, Mommy and I had a great weekend. MiMi and I don't have big plans but we'll get around town on some errands and I'll report on anything interesting that we see.

Well, the plans for today's Turn Around Cruise had to be cancelled due to the long-awaited rain. The forecasters had been saying for several days that we should expect it, and sadly it came today. We hope we'll have a report on another day onboard the Constellation, but that remains a BIG question. MiMi and I already had nearly two hours in the car this morning taking a good friend to the airport. So actually it will feel good to hunker down inside. Oma is going to come for a visit this afternoon so there's a treat to look forward to!

Today the USS Constellation leaves its dock and travels down to Ft. McHenry and back so that it can be "turned around" ... they call this fun day the Turn Around Cruise and you can only go if you get an invitation. MiMi and Mommy are going and Daddy will be on board too helping to keep things ship-shape for everyone. MiMi wanted to take me too but it seems I am too young. Rats! Remember I told you before that MiMi and I go into Towson on Thursdays for the Farmers Market. Well, we timed it right today. It was over lunch so PopPop and Oma could run over to meet us for a little visit! I hadn't seen them for a couple of weeks and we needed to catch up on snuggles. This weekend we'll spend hanging out around here and doing the things we enjoy doing like walks and errands and visiting friends and family. We're looking forward to "Home Sweet Home"! I hope you will find fun things to do too.

Simon Says "September Is A Beautiful Month!"

Look at the beautiful day ... this was September 1st and each day this week has been just as beautiful. If they're right, the guy who tells us the weather on TV says we'll have this all the way through next weekend. It's thrilled MiMi ... our walks are longer ... and we can just sit outside and enjoy the sights and sounds. Hey, Aunt Lauren, look ... behind me across the water is where you go to work sometimes. I can't wait til you come back again. Maybe you can come to enjoy September with us ... can you bring Rama? The other BIG news is that my Uncle Charley is moving to a little red house that is very close to all of us. It'll be hard to give up Boring, MD, but we'll try to keep him bored here in Towson! It's going to be great to see him around town!
